Oh Marge…

July 29, 2017

7/19/17
Marge is missing! I know because I’ve seen the flyer posted along my walks all week. Marge is a Domestic Long Hair, according to the surprisingly professional flyer, and has been missing now for 5 days and counting. In the color photo, Marge is bathed in a mysterious natural light, poised on maybe an Ottoman in the way that a professional pet photographer would set up a photo shoot. Her head is slightly angled and she gazes just off camera into the middle distance with a sage, acccepting-of-her-fate look in her eyes. She could just as likely be intently watching the front door and plotting her escape. She is “Female, Adult, Medium, Grey, Hair length: Long.” On the upper left of the flyer is a QR code, which is something I just Googled by typing in “scan box” and then “scan code,” and Google said, “oh, you mean this.” You see these on everything from Billboards to cars nowadays, and me always forgetting my scanner gun at home. They intimidate me and I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with them (sorry Marge). The flyer was made by two different professional lost pet organizations (they help find the  lost pets, they’re not run by them). They have logos and everything.“PLEASE DO NOT…” (their caps) “call or whistle…” (Just in general? What if I have a song stuck in my head or I see a neighbor, or both?!?) “as this may cause them…” (Them? Are there two Marge’s? Or is it a case of multiple personalities?) “to run in fear into danger.” I’m so sorry, but at this stage of the search effort I’m afraid the whistling and calling are the least of Marge’s worries. She was last seen near the cul-de-sac right outside my house, but I swear I know nothing!
